JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format) is the file format spec that JPEG images actually use - a .jfif file's contents are a real JPEG image, just saved with a .jfif extension instead of .jpg. It usually shows up when Windows, Microsoft Edge, or certain photo apps save or download an image and label it that way automatically.
What is a PNG file?
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless image format that supports transparency - unlike JPEG, it doesn't discard image data to save space. That makes it the better choice for graphics, screenshots, and images you plan to edit further, at the cost of larger file sizes for photos.
